Once Upon a Time

Once Upon a Time Speculation: Where Should the Storybrooke Residents Go Next?

It’s tragic, really. The fairy tale characters of Once Upon A Time have a chance to live in a whole new world, but none of them are able to explore it. First, the curse kept everyone from crossing the town border. Now, the residents are physically capable of crossing the line, but will lose their memories if they do (just as Belle...oh, wait). It was neat to see Rumplestiltskin (Robert Carlyle), Emma (Jennifer Morrison), and Henry (Jared Gilmore) take the Big Apple by storm, so we decided to speculate where the other Storybrooke residents might go, if given the chance.

Technically, Belle (Emilie de Ravin) has already been outside of town...but it was a short trip. If Belle ever gets her memories back, we think she might enjoy a visit to the Library of Congress, the largest library in the world. She can bring Chip along (that’s what super glue is for, right?), check out the Smithsonian’s tea set collection, and they’ll make a day of it!

Regina (Lana Parrilla) probably won’t be able to convince Emma and the Charmings that taking Henry across the country is a good idea. Luckily, New England has a lot to offer the traveling family! Given her penchant for the tasty fruit, we think Regina could take Henry on an apple orchard tour of the region. It’s just the sort of boring road trip parents like to subject their children to, and Regina can stock up on the produce for her worlds-famous apple pastries!

The Seven Dwarves
The Storybrooke residents are always asking the dwarves to do something -- whether it is digging a tunnel under the town to mine for fairy dust or preparing the land for magic bean crops. If the memory curse is ever broken, they deserve a vacation! As miners, we think they might appreciate a trip to Mount Rushmore. The gigantic granite sculpture, carved into the edifice of the mountain, took 400 workers and 14 years to build. Most of it was shaped through the use of dynamite; we think fairy dust might have sped up the process, but we’ll wait for the dwarves’ opinion on the matter.

Snow White and Prince Charming
True-Lovers Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Prince Charming (Josh Dallas) don’t get a lot of alone time, so we think they could use a trip away from their Storybrooke / Enchanted Forest duties. As acknowledged by Snow in Season 2, Episode 13: “Tiny,” they’re also kind of adventure junkies. We could see these crazy kids rafting the Grand Canyon or hiking Yosemite. Although, knowing these two do-gooders, they probably just spend their vacation volunteering for Habitat for Humanity or something equally altruistic. Once a fairy tale hero/heroine, always a fairy tale hero/heroine.

We’re kind of upset Pongo hasn’t found Perdita yet. Pongo went above and beyond to rescue his owner Archie (Raphael Sbarge) when he was kidnapped by Cora (Barbara Hershey) and presumed dead. We think Archie owes Pongo a little R&R, and given that Pongo met Perdita in London, we think a trip across the pond is well in order. The two can spend the trip exploring the many lovely parks the city has to offer. We know it’s a tad expensive, but we have a feeling the appearance of Cora in Storybrooke is going to do wonders for Archie’s job security.

Disney World!
We still remember the Full House episode when the Tanners went to Disney World, and It. Was. Awesome. How amazing would it be to see the entire cast of fairy tale characters taking pictures with their costumed doppelgangers? Or to see an impatient Rumple turn everyone in the line ahead of him into tea cozies? We may have to save this storyline for Season 10, when the show has exhausted all other possible plots, but we can’t help but wish (upon a star) for it a little bit.

Where do you think the Storybrooke residents would head if given the chance? Let us know your silliest (and most serious, if so inclined) theories in the comments below!
