Revenge’s Gabriel Mann Talks Helen Hunt’s Directing For Episode 15

This Sunday we celebrate the Oscars, but three Sundays from now (March 10) one Oscar-nominee will be all about Revenge. Helen Hunt, who is nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Sessions, directed Episode 15, “Retribution,” in which Emily Thorne and some of our favorite Hamptonites attend the funeral of Fauxmanda Clarke.

The cast has already tweeted some of their excitement at having an A-Lister in the director’s chair, and actor Gabriel Mann (Nolan Ross) recently spoke with Entertainment Weekly about the famous woman yelling, “Cut!”

“She was very invested in the characters, and sort of had really strong smart ideas about [how] at a certain point, when you keep upping the stakes and upping the stakes, there has to be a payoff,” he said. “I feel like she really got us back to our roots, saying, ‘As human beings, what happens to [the characters] when these things are occurring all around you?’ She anchored it in incredible, dramatic reality — still within the confines of the Revenge world, clearly — but really brought a real sensitivity and poignancy to the things these character have to deal with in the next few episodes.”

And that technique will definitely be necessary as our favorite characters move forward following the death of Fauxmanda Clarke.

Now Ems has a revitalized passion and anger that’s directly pointed toward the Graysons. Vicki vs. Ems Part Deux? We can’t wait!
