Why Did Usher Get Custody Of His Kids?

Usher and his six-pack are taking the music industry by storm one pelvic thrust at a time, but this R&B singer has his priorities in order –– his kids come first! Usher has two sons (Usher V and Naviyd) with his ex-wife, Tameka Foster, and when Usher filed for divorce in June 2009 these two got into a heated custody battle.

Not only did Tameka accuse Usher of cheating and doing drugs in front of their children (oh, no she did-n’t), she accused him of being an absent father!

"Absentee from the aspect of having to go and work, that probably would be her version or idea what absentee would be," Usher told Oprah during an emotional interview in response to Tameka's claims. "But no, I'm not an absentee father at all."

A judge finally awarded Usher primary custody of his children on August 24, 2012 (three full years after his divorce from Tameka), presumably due to his claims that Tameka was an irresponsible parent.

As you might expect, Tameka was none too happy about the decision, and vowed to appeal the ruling based on the revelation that Usher's lawyer helped raise considerable funds for the judge presiding over the case. Dun, dun, dunnnn!

Suffice it to say these two won't be getting back together anytime soon, though the good news is that Tameka does have some rights. She gets to see her kiddos on a regular basis –– despite the fact that her ex-hubby and his collection of fedoras have primary custody.
