American Idol 2013 Ratings Terrible, But Win Wednesday Night Anyway
American Idol ratings for Wednesday night fell yet again from last week’s numbers among the coveted 18-49 age group. This was the series’ lowest showing on a Wednesday night since at least July 10, 2002, according to Zap2It.com.
Fox scored a 4.1 in American Idol 2013 ratings on Wednesday night in the 18-49 group, compared to a 4.3 the week before. The show was up a tiny bit in overall viewership from last Wednesday, probably thanks to a boost in the under 18 group, but it wasn’t significant enough to matter much. The hit reality show did manage to still land the top spot for the night despite its continued decline in ratings from past seasons.
American Idol Season 12 easily beat out Survivor: Caramoan in hour one on Wednesday night with 13.8 million viewers versus 9.45 million. In hour two, Idol trounced CBS’ Criminal Minds with 14.6 million versus 10.7 million viewers.
Fox also won the evening overall with an average of 14.2 million viewers in primetime. Second place finisher CBS brought in only 10.4 million.
American Idol ratings may still be continuing to fall, but so far the show still has plenty enough viewers to keep Fox renewing it for years to come.
