American Idol 2013: Best Las Vegas Performances, Round 2 (The Guys)
Uh...yeah...the guys this season on American Idol 2013 -- well, what can we say about them? Not much if we live by what our mommas used to tell us about not having anything nice to say, and saying nothing at all. Man, oh man, oh man. While the girls knocked it out of the park on Wednesday night, forcing the judges to bid adieu to early faves like Shubha Vedula and Isabelle Pasqualone, the guys left a lot to be desired.
If we had to pick a favorite, we’d probably go with Devin Velez. This Chicago barista has impressed from the start with his unique take on songs. His performance last night was no exception. He not only took a chance with his song choice (Beyonce’s “Listen”), but he crooned part of it in Spanish, which the judges looked at with mucho amor.
Curtis Finch, Jr. is another hopeful that has had the judges eating out of his hand since Hollywood Week. While the way the gospel singer made love to the camera during Luther Vandross’ “Don’t You Remember” cover of The Carpenters’ “Superstar” gave us the heebie jeebies, the judges adored it. They showered him with praise, while Randy Jackson did leave him with a bit of advice, saying he’d prefer that he “keep it young.”
