The Bachelorette

Bachelor Nation Balks at Sean and AshLee’s Terrifying Cave Adventure

On The Bachelor, everything is a metaphor for either love or heartbreak. In The Bachelor Season 17 overnight dates in Thailand, Sean Lowe forces AshLee Frazier to swim into a dark cave. “I want my wife to be able to trust me in certain situations, and today I want to figure out whether or not she’s capable of that,” Sean says, explaining why he’s opted for this epically terrifying activity. The metaphor is not lost on AshLee, freaks out, hyperventilates, but then makes it out alive — and turns the date into a Life Changing Moment. “Today basically represented me letting go of every structure I had and going far beyond everything I thought I’d be doing.” Bachelor Nation wasn’t as quick to endorse the making-it-out-of-the-cave-as-a-symbol-of-romantic-triumph idea. Here’s a roundup of our favorite reactions from our Bachelor Nation BFFs.

Sidebar: One of these days, we’re just going to do a Top 10 Dana Weiss Tweets article. Memo to Mike Fleiss: Get Possessionista her own talk show!

The thing is, falling in love is actually not much like swimming through a dark water-cave in Thailand. #bachelornation

If Sean doesn't pick AshLee, she has a shining future writing metaphors for Hallmark. #Bachelor

Only Ashlee can make diving into a dark cave about an issue about being abandoned at a young age
