First we heard he and fellow DWTS pro Peta Murgatroyd had split up after 10 months of dating. Then we heard Maks would not be competing on the spring 2013 Season 16, despite being on the show since Season 2. Maks talked to Access Hollywood about the changes, starting with his relationship status.
"I'm single," Maks said. What happened with Peta? "Things happen, you know. It's all good. We're still friends. Everything's great." Access’s Kit Hoover asked if he's really one of those people who can stay friends with an ex after a split. "I'm friends," Maks said. "It's up to [the other person]." Kit said that means he did the breaking up. Maks just said guys never end up winning in this situation, the sympathy is always with the woman. (Hmm. That did not seem to be the case with Maks and his other DWTS ex, Karina Smirnoff.)
"We all look for what makes us happy,” Maks added, “and I'm still looking."
Maks also talked about skipping this season of DWTS. He said he's still part of the show and part of the family, he's just not on this season. A lot of things were considered, he said, and they were gracious enough to let him go and explore other options. But he's not sure yet if he'll be on the fall season. "When time comes for next season we'll talk about it then." This show has been a part of his life for seven years. He doesn't want to let his fans down and just walk away or say anything that isn't true, so he'll just say he's pursuing movies, TV and other opportunities. "I'm just looking forward to what's next."
