Remember where we were this time last year, Bachelor Nation fans? It was the end of January (Jan. 29 to be exact) and Ben Flajnik’s season of The Bachelorwas only a few weeks in. Nevertheless, the powers that be went ahead and announced they had already found their next Bachelorette, Emily Maynard, who would start shooting in the spring.
Given the 2012 timetable, it begs the question: have ABC’s producers decided who will be filling Emily’s well-heeled shoes for The Bachelorette Season 9 — and are they on the verge of announcing it any day now? We checked with our behind-the-scenes sources and, unfortunately, the answer is no. While The Bachelorette producers have reportedly had several meetings to discuss who the next lady rose-doler will be, they haven't yet made a decision — but they do now have a timeline for the announcement!
“They’re nowhere near deciding who the next Bachelorette should be,” a show insider tells Wetpaint Entertainment. “The timing of Emily’s announcement in no way reflects how it’s going to work this time around. It’s going to be a while before any sort of serious decision-making process begins.” Sounds like that "while" isn't very long at all; ABC plans to make the major Bachelorette Season 9 announcement during The Bachelor Season 17 "After the Final Rose" special on March 11, 2013. The good news? You still have a few days for to recommend, insist, please, and cajole the higher-ups as to your pick.
