Jesse Tyler Ferguson Talks Sofia Vergara’s Flu, Wedding Plans, and Modern Family — Exclusive
Mitch and Cam may not be walking down the aisle anytime soon on Modern Family, but actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson is currently in the midst of planning his own wedding to fiancé Justin Mikita. Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with the star on the red carpet of the New York City launch of his Tie the Knot spring bowtie collection — during which he talked about his hit show, Sofia Vergara’s Oscar-night flu, and his upcoming marriage.
Jesse tells us that the couple has, in fact, set a wedding date (though he failed to offer us his Save the Date), and is now buried in wedding planning.
“It’s going really well,” he said, as Justin stood by his side, beaming. “There’s a lot of elements I didn’t even realize we had to make decisions on. We looked at some wedding invitations today, and I’m really excited. I’m more and more excited with each decision we make.”
And what about his on-screen partner, Cam?
“We just shot an episode at a roller rink so that was a lot of fun,” he dished. “Both Eric [Stonestreet, who plays Cam] and Aubrey [Anderson-Emmons, who plays Lily] couldn’t skate, so I was saddled with trying to teach two people how to skate. I wasn’t teaching them to skate in character — I was teaching them to skate as Jesse. Eric can get frustrated easily so I had to calm him, and then I had Aubrey, the 5-year-old. It was basically like we were a real family at the roller rink trying to get through the scene.”
Jesse revealed that Eric isn’t the only co-star who can be a handful. His sexy “stepmom” Sofia Vergara recently took Oscars weekend off due to a severe case of the flu.
“I’m too busy to worry about Sofia’s flu. Ah, she’s fine; an assistant will get her some Theraflu,” he joked. “No, she is fine, she is. She’s great.”
Hopefully she’s well enough to bust some balls on the Modern Family set — all while strutting in her signature heels.
