Bachelor Sean Lowe’s Sister: What I Want in a Sister-in-Law — Exclusive

Aside from his six pack, Bachelor Sean Lowe’s most defining characteristic is how much he loves his family — a bond we witnessed on The Bachelorette Season 8, when we first met his parents and his big sister, Shay Shull. In the promo for The Bachelor Season 17 finale, we again see just how much this darling family loves each other, and how much they hope for Sean’s happiness — and fear for his heartbreak. In the promo, Sean’s mom tears up with worry about the huge decision he’s about to make in proposing to either Catherine Giudici or Lindsay Yenter. “You don’t need to be proposing to either one of them,” Cheryl tells her son.

Speaking exclusively with Wetpaint Entertainment, Sean’s sister Shay opens up about that emotional moment. “We had jet lag, so everybody was tired and emotional,” Shay explains, but doesn’t gloss over the gravity of Sean’s decision, adding, “It’s a very serious subject, and the seriousness of everything definitely hit [in Thailand].”

While we won’t know who Sean picked until The Bachelor Season 17 finale airs on March 11, 2013, Shay did share some insight as to how she sees Sean’s future wife fitting into the family. “I don’t have a sister, so one day, when I am about to have a sister in law, I hope she gets along really well with our family,” Shay says.

The Lowe family is notoriously close knit — in fact, Shay’s husband, Andrew Shull, was Sean’s college football teammate first, long before he met Shay and married into the family. Shay hopes Sean’s spouse will fit into the clan as seamlessly as Andrew has. “I want my sister in law to be someone who doesn’t have to change who she is to fit into our family,” Shay says. Last but not least, Shay has one simple requirement for Sean’s future wife: “Someone who makes my brother really happy.”
