Why Was Mel B Booed on First Day as America’s Got Talent Judge?
Sounds like Scary Spice had a spicy start to her tenure as a judge on America's Got Talent.
Mel B and Heidi Klum had their first days on Monday (March 4) in New Orleans — along with veteran judges Howie Mandel and Howard Stern — and TMZ says the first act was Lagniappe, a popular NOLA brass band.
According to TMZ, Mel told the band she's not a fan of brass music. Way to tick off the locals! The audience reportedly booed and even yelled things like "Go home" and "No respect." The former Spice Girl supposedly got upset and leaned over to Howie, who comforted her.
Heidi apparently had a more smooth start. Poor Mel. Then again, she's the one who got herself attention for judge "drama" — and isn't that the new playbook, following Britney Spears on The X Factor and everyone on American Idol? The whole point of casting big "names" in judge roles is to get people talking. So maybe her first day wasn't so bad after all.
