American Idol 2013 Recap: Top 10 Girls Perform! – Semi-Finals (VIDEOS)

The American Idol 2013 semi-finals kick off tonight with the Top 10 ladies taking the stage. This time, it won't be the American Idol judges who decide which girls will move on to the next round, it will be you!

That's right, it's time to vote, American Idol fans! Tonight and tomorrow, the viewers will watch as the Top 20 guys and girls perform. On Thursday night, the votes will be counted and the Top 10 finalists for American Idol Season 12 will be chosen. Well, right now we assume it will be a Top 10. Producer Jimmy Iovine kind of, sort of, maybe hinted it could be more... but we can't verify anything on that count for now.

For now though, let's assume only five of the lovely ladies performing tonight in the American Idol semi-finals for Season 12 will be going on to the Top 10 finalists. Here's the list of who will performing for their life tonight:

Adriana Latonio
Amber Holcomb
Angela Miller
Aubrey Cleland
Breanna Steer
Candice Glover
Janelle Arthur
Kree Harrison
Tenna Torres
Zoanette Johnson

Ready to watch the performances and decide who you are going to vote for tonight? Join us for our live American Idol recap starting right now!

Let's start the show!

Ryan introduces the contestants singing tonight and asks the judges about the move to the voting rounds. Nicki Minaj says she hopes fans will vote for people they really believe in. Randy thinks this is the girls' season to lose, and that hasn't been true for years. Ryan also explains about the new 'SuperVote' feature, which you can check out in more detail here.

American Idol 2013: Zoanette Johnson - "What's Love Got To Do With It" by Tina Turner

Keith Urban says he loves Zoanette's fierceness, but he isn't sure about this performance. He thinks it was maybe too over the top. Nicki Minaj says this "wasn't it" and while she can watch Zoanette perform all day long, you have to have the vocals for this kind of song. Randy Jackson says he still loves Zoanette, but it was not a good performance. Mariah Carey says she can't keep her eyes off Zoanette even while other contestants are performing. However, this was not her best performance.

American Idol 2013: Breanna Steer - "Flaws and All" by Beyonce

Keith Urban says he loves Breanna's song choices. "You find the right songs that show who you are as a singer." He says he thinks she will go through, but he wants to see her find songs that will bring her to her own place so he can see more of who she is an artist. Nicki Minaj says she totally disagrees with everything Keith said. "You sounded like you were straining throughout the entire performance." Nicki thinks she should not be comfortable with thinking she is going to get through, despite what Keith said. Randy Jackson says he is "agreeing with my own self." He likes the song choice, but thinks it was safe and there "weren't enough moments in it." He wants more big moments because he thinks she has them in her. Mariah Carey says "it was a unique song choice" because "it's lyrically very raw and very simplistic." There weren't a lot of vocal gymnastic moments, but her whole package says "star quality."

American Idol 2013: Aubrey Cleland - "Big Girls Don't Cry" by Fergie

Keith Urban says he felt the melody restricted her, but her vibratto is so beautiful, he doesn't care. Nicki Minaj says she loves the song choice for her and just loves her overall. Randy Jackson says all the judges love her and she gives off a little bit of a Rihanna vibe. "There is something really current and really infectious about you. I'm a fan." Mariah Carey thinks Aubrey looks fabulous and she has great versatility and spirit. "You so obviously have multi-platinum potential." She thinks there is no way the audience can't see how huge she could be in the industry.

American Idol 2013: Janelle Arthur - “If I Can Dream” by Elvis Presley

Keith Urban really likes Janelle’s “classic country” vocals, which is something all the judges really seem to be into. Nicki Minaj thinks Janelle has really come back from a not-so great performance in the previous round. She would love to see what a big country producer could do with Janelle. She says she wants to eat Janelle up like a marshmallow. (Oh Nicki.) Randy Jackson says he really likes the “old throwback” sound of her voice and that’s something really missing in country music right now. “You could give them that.” Mariah Carey says she is so glad Janelle really brought her own vibe tonight and she’s a real “America’s sweetheart.”

American Idol 2013: Tenna Torres - “Lost” by Faith Hill

Keith Urban says he loves that Tenna did a Faith Hill song and she did a really good job with it. He says she needs to be careful not to let the camera pull her out of the emotion of the song. He thinks America is going to vote to keep her around. Nicki Minaj says she likes Tenna’s hair and her “boobs too.” Oh Nicki, just loving on that bisexual vibe aren’t you? She says she doesn’t know if Tenna’s personality really jumps out, but she loves hearing her sing. Randy Jackson is a bit flustered by the “boobs” comment but manages to push through it and says she likes Tenna’s restraint in the song. “The beginning of that was so beautiful, so amazing.” He says she could sing just about anything with her voice and it was very nicely done. Mariah Carey says Tenna looks gorgeous. She loves the song choice and thought Tenna made it her own. “I love you and I hope America loves you too.”

American Idol 2013: Angie Miller - “Never Gone” by Colton Dixon

Keith Urban says everyone was standing because they were witnessing a true artist on stage tonight. He says it is just amazing how American Idol produced someone like Colton Dixon that could write a song like this. “The trumpets should sound when you walk in the room, little girl,” Nicki Minaj says. Nicki wants to know if she can just get her album right now. They should just let her off Idol and go make an album she can buy. She says Angela should not change for anyone. Randy Jackson says “America, a star is born on this stage” and she is “going places.” Now calling her Angie, rather than Angela, Randy says he just loves the honesty of her delivery and the effortlessness of her vocals. Mariah Carey says she is so happy to hear Angie back at the piano and she loved the song choice. All of them are just blown away, she says.

American Idol 2013: Amber Holcomb - “I Believe in You and Me” by Whitney Houston

Keith Urban says he thinks it was the perfect song for her. He wishes she could hold some notes a bit longer because her tone is exquisite. Nicki Minaj says she is just going to call her “ber” from now on. She is so happy Amber is showing her personality and she isn’t “only legs” anymore. “When people do Whitney Houston, normally they look like they’re having a hard time” but Amber didn’t at all. Randy Jackson says Amber is “in it to win it right now!” Mariah Carey says Amber can “sing your behind off” and she’s so happy she is in the competition and America gets to vote as we go.

American Idol 2013: Kree Harrison - “Stronger” by Faith Hill

Keith Urban says he just loves to hear her sing. He says she was effortless as she always is and she fits right in with all the female superstars of country music. Nicki Minaj says Kree should already know she is her “wife” and she notched the sexy up even more. Kree says she is “just trying to do my wife proud.” (LOL!) Nicki says she is obsessed with her and there is nothing she can do to change that. “It’s my favorite tone out of all the girls... it’s always nice and smooth.” Randy Jackson says they’ve got “another one that’s in it to win it right here!” He says she’s kind of sneaky with her voice and it just goes up and up and he had no idea her range was so big. “It’s country and then some,” he says, adding that she could probably sing anything. Mariah Carey says jokingly that she’s married, so she can’t go into all that, but Kree gives her a true experience. “There is an undeniable thing that you have... everyone is going to love you.” She thinks Kree could just go to a record company and sing, and a record deal would fall in her lap.

American Idol 2013: Adriana Latonio - "Stand Up For Love" by Destiny's Child

Keith Urban says he’s a little nervous about this song choice for her tonight. “You’ve got a really big powerful voice... but it took too long to get to it at the end.” Nicki Minaj compliments her for being pretty, but after the past three contestants, it didn’t stand out. She thinks she should work at it and come back next year.

American Idol 2013: Candice Glover - “Ordinary People” by John Legend

Keith Urban says Candice Glover was “superb” tonight as the judges give her a standing ovation. He thinks it was a beautiful performance all the way around. Nicki Minaj just says the look on her face (awe) is the only thing she's going to say. “That’s it. That’s my comment.” And she means it and shuts up. Randy Jackson absolutely loved it. Randy says there are so many great singers they need to talk to the producers about a wildcard or something. Mariah Carey says the performance caused goose bumps and was just amazing.
