Edward Furlong Rejects Rehab, Gets 6 Months in Jail
Edward Furlong is in jail. Again. This is definitely not what Sarah Connor would’ve wanted for him.
According to TMZ, the 35-year-old star of Terminator 2 and American History X was sentenced to 180 days in jail for violating his probation. In 2010, Eddie was placed on three years probation for violating a restraining order taken out by his now ex-wife. In January, Eddie was arrested on suspicion of attacking an ex-girlfriend. He was also charged with grabbing the same woman's arm at LAX in October. She took out a restraining order against him after the October incident, and he was sent to jail in February for allegedly violating that order with the January event. It's confusing and exhausting and sad.
On March 5, his attorney, Brian Michaels, explained to E! News:
"Despite the best efforts of my office, and with the cooperation of the City Attorney and the Court in this case, Mr. Furlong had the opportunity to avoid Jail in a deal my office worked out which [would've] resolved not just this case but two other criminal cases in Beverly Hills, by checking himself into a drug rehabilitation program, a very unusual disposition in a case that alleged violence. Sadly, Mr. Furlong rejected all proposals to get into drug rehabilitation, and the Court, ultimately decided that it was forced to sentence to him a hefty amount of jail time. We are hopeful that Mr. Furlong uses this experience, unpleasant as it may be, to revisit the issue of Rehab when he is released."
It sounds like he does need help, from rehab or someone else in his life. And he really needs to keep away from his exes. At least jail will be good for that, if not much else. Good luck, man.
