American Idol 2013 Top 20: Did Curtis Finch Jr. Deserve a Standing Ovation?

The American Idol 2013 Top 10 guys put in some strong performances tonight, but one contestant in particular got the judges on their feet.

Curtis Finch Jr., an early favorite of judge Mariah Carey’s, performed a passionate rendition of R.Kelly’s “I Believe I Can Fly,” which showed off his impressive vocal range. Before the very last note of the song was over, the American Idol judges were already up and out of their chairs.

Keith Urban praised the uplifting feeling of his performance, and Nicki Minaj echoed the same sentiment, gushing about the positive energy emanating from his voice. “You have a calling on your life to bless people and to do so much good,” she said to Curtis. “I felt like the competition started right here for me,” Randy Jackson said of his performance.

While we loved the everything about Curtis’s take on this hit song, we felt like he wasn’t the only one who turned in a standing ovation-worthy performance.

So we turn it over to you, the fans: Do you think he deserved the only standing ovation of the night, or were some of the other contestants short changed by the judges? Let us know in the comments below!
