Ashley Benson: Justin Bieber “Wasn’t Happy” About My Boyfriend Parody With James Franco
Pretty Little Liars starlet Ashley Benson (Hanna) has been all over the place with the upcoming release of her controversial comedy-drama, Spring Breakers, set to hit theaters at the end of the month. She is gracing the cover of April’s Seventeen, and spoke to the magazine about her controversial Justin Bieber parody with her then-rumored beau James Franco.
“I haven’t heard from Selena [about the “Boyfriend” parody]!” Ash told Seventeen of the Bieber parody video she made with James Franco. Ash and James both star with the Biebs’ ex-girlfriend, Selena Gomez, in Breakers. “People thought that I was being mean, but I was just doing what the girl did in the video. It wasn’t a jab at her.”
Ash added that she had heard from Justin, and “he wasn’t happy about it.” Ash dated Justin’s swagger coach, Ryan Good, until late last year and called the pop idol “like my little brother,” adding, “Anytime you go through a breakup, the friends get defensive. But all is well in that area now.”
Ash has certainly gotten close with her Breakers co-stars.
“Selena, Vanessa [Hudgens], and I all came from a Disney background, and [Spring Breakers] was different from anything we’ve done,” said Ash. “But we wanted to prove that we’re not just girls who play happy parts. It was such a crazy experience—I’m so proud of all of us. I’m really excited for everybody to see it.”
But, don’t worry, Ash hasn’t forgotten her PLL girls! In the story, Ash called Shay Mitchell (Emily) on of her best friends, adding that she wants to find a boyfriend for Shay:
“She’s been looking for three years…Every guy wants to date her, but she’s like, ‘No. No. No. No.' I’m always on the lookout for Shay. Always. I’m always trying to get her a boyfriend!”
