Family of Missing People’s Court Mom Files Suit Against Her Ex

Relatives of the mom who disappeared after appearing on The People's Court in 2011 are taking action.

Michelle Parker was last seen alive on November 17, 2011, and now her family is filing a wrongful death lawsuit against Michelle's ex-fiance, Dale Smith, according to People.

Michelle's family claims that Dale knows what happened to Michelle, who was 33 at the time of her death.

"The family doesn't want to believe that Michelle is dead, but they believe that she is," says the family's attorney. "This is a case that has gone cold, so a civil case is the only way that Michelle's family will finally get answers."

"Given the passing of time, as well as some evidence we have discovered, we believe that Dale Smith is responsible for her death," the attorney continues.

Michelle was last seen dropping her three-year-old twins off at Dale's house in Florida.

She disappeared on the same day that the estranged couple appeared on The People's Court, in which the two were arguing over a lost engagement ring. The episode had been filmed several weeks prior.

"He gets pretty malicious and vindictive, especially when he's been drinking," Michelle said about Dale while on the show. "He shouldn't have put his hands on me."

There is not too much evidence to go on in the case, other than her cell phone, which was retrieved from a lake just days following her disappearance.

Our thoughts go out to Michelle's family.
