The Vampire Diaries’ Candice Accola on Lessons Learned From Caroline

If you’re looking for a role model, you could do a lot worse than The Vampire Diaries Caroline Forbes. Not only is she smart, sassy, and independent, she has fantastic taste in men.

Candice Accola told TV Guide some of her favorite lessons she’s learned from Caroline over the past four seasons of the TV show. Check them out, then head over to the site for more pearls of wisdom from Vampire Barbie.

Quote: "I'm a terrible awful person. But I'm working on it."
From: Season 1, Episode 13, "Children of the Damned"
Candice says: "This is the first time we saw Caroline start to accept her flaws. When Matt overhears Caroline talk about busboys in a degrading way, he calls her out on in. Instead of victimizing herself or manipulating him to feel sorry for her, Caroline confidently admits her mistake."

Quote: "I get it. Your father didn't love you, so you assume that no one else will either. And that's why you compel people or you sire them or you try to buy them off, but that's not how it works. You don't connect with people, because you don't even try to understand them."- From: Season 3, Episode 14, "Dangerous Liaisons"
Candice says: "We see Klaus and Caroline truly connect for the first time. She challenged Klaus' way of thinking also, while subconsciously saying, 'If you'd try to understand me, we could have a real connection.'"

What’s your favorite Caroline quote? Is there another TVD character who’s your spirit animal?
