Grey’s Anatomy Season 9, Episode 17: [SPOILER] Quits Seattle Grace!
Tensions are reaching an all-time high at Seattle Grace-Mercy West. Grey’s Anatomy may not be on for another week, but thanks to this sneak peek (via Entertainment Weekly), we’re getting a glimpse at the drama to come on Season 9, Episode 17: "Transplant Wasteland.” Warning: Major spoiler alert! The docs may have found a way to save the hospital from bankruptcy, but it looks like not everyone is happy with the transition. Although it seems Seattle Grace-Mercy West back to normal (or as normal as they can be with Jackson Avery on the board), one doc is buckling under the pressure -- Owen.
But why is the Chief stressed? It appears the board is trying to push Owen out of his position as Chief, which leads to a heated exchange between Owen and Jackson. Owen is tired of everyone lying to him and takes his frustration out on Derek, who tries to break up Owen and Jackson’s tiff.
However, Owen goes a little too far, and Derek snaps. “You don’t want to get in for who’s responsible for all of this,” yells Derek. Yikes. This is an uncomfortable conversation. In the final moments of the scene, Owen shockingly quits.
Maybe he was fed up with being jerked around, or maybe he still feels guilty for the plane crash that killed Lexie and Mark, but needless to say, we hope this gets resolved soon.
The discord and chaos created by the hospital's new management team causes one physician to question his future at Seattle Grace. Meanwhile, the doctors and the interns must juggle several transplant surgeries at once, each coming with its own set of obstacles.
