Once Upon a Time Season 2 Finale Speculation: Which “Other Land” Character Will We Meet?

At their recent PaleyFest panel, Once Upon a Time creator Edward Kitsis said that OUAT will be bringing us another magical realm by the end of the season. Given that the final two episodes of the season are titled “Second Star to the Right” and “And Straight on ‘Til Morning,” we are somewhat confident that the realm will be Peter Pan’s Neverland. Kitsis also said they will be "teasing someone who will live in this other land, but we won't see them until season three." Who could our mystery realmer be?

Peter Pan
Most people are placing their money on boy hero Peter Pan himself. There had been speculation that Neal/Baelfire (Michael Raymond-James) is also Peter, as he knows Hook (Colin O’Donoghue) and mentioned to Emma (Jennifer Morrison) that our world is not the first land he went to following his departure from the Enchanted Forest. However, Robert Carlyle (Mr. Gold/Rumplestiltskin) has taken some of the air out of that theory with his comment that it will be a child actor playing the role of Peter Pan. He could just be trying to throw us off the scent, but it is hard to tell!

We might be more intrigued to meet Wendy than we are to meet Peter Pan. After all, the first novel adaptation of J.M. Barrie’s play about the boy who won’t grow up is called Peter and Wendy. In many ways, Peter Pan is as much her story as it his Peter’s. OUAT made a recent casting call for the role of a 13-year-old British girl who is “compassionate, mischievous, and somewhat naive about how dangerous the world can be.” Technically, her name is Heidi, but we’re not picky about names. Could this Heidi be Wendy?

Tinker Bell
The casting call also brings to mind another major Neverland character: Peter’s pint-sized fairy friend, Tinker Bell. Tink is usually cast a bit older than 13 years old, but OUAT has proven time and again it doesn’t mind reinventing classic stories or their characters. It would be neat to see a young fairy character to join forces with The Blue Fairy/Mother Superior.

Tiger Lily
The third and final major female character in Peter’s Neverland is the Native American princess, Tiger Lily, who Peter rescues from death at Captain Hook’s, er, hand. This is a particularly intriguing prospect if you believe Neal is Peter Pan because that means Neal’s fiance, Tamara, could be Tiger Lily. There’s a good chance she is just a normal New Yorker, but what if the two escaped from Neverland together to settle in Manhattan. That’s going to make the eventual Neal/Emma romantic reconciliation a bit harder to come by, but we love a good fairy tale love triangle.

Whoever this “other land” character might be, we can’t wait to see how he/she relates to the rest of the Storybrooke characters, especially Hook. Given that Kitsis says the character will just be teased in Season 2, we will most likely have to wait until next season to conclusively meet this character. We’re just hoping it’s worth the wait!

Who do you think the “other land” character is? Sound off with your theories in the comment section below!
