American Idol 2013 Ratings For Top 10 Results Can’t Beat CBS Comedies
American Idol 2013 ratings continue to be the worst in a decade, and the show has definitely lost its number one show status on Thursday nights. For this week’s American Idol Season 12 Top 10 results show, the reality TV competition was beaten by both The Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men head to head. Although The Big Bang Theory has been trouncing American Idol during the first half-hour of the show regularly, this is the first week Two and a Half Men also topped the talent show in their shared half-hour.
While American Idol ratings were slightly up overall from last week, no doubt due to the big Top 10 reveal, the show fell once again among viewers in the key 18 to 49 demographic. The show lost 5% of viewers from last week in the most coveted age group, but went up 6% in total viewers, according to deadline.com. Since the 90 show minute actually ended up being 92 minutes long, those numbers may be adjusted the tiniest bit upward, but not by much.
Even the slight uptick in total viewers from last week doesn’t mean a lot, however, when you consider American Idol ratings have been the worst so far since 2002 on many show nights. Plus, the continued fall in viewers in the 18 to 49 age range means the show is less valuable to advertisers and can’t hold the attention of the most heavily targeted age group.
Fox still managed to take home the most viewers in the 18 to 49 group Thursday night, but CBS stole the top spot in overall total viewership.
