Justin Timberlake’s SNL Perks Include Slamming Kanye West
Justin Timberlake had a big night. On March 9, the actor and musician opened his fifth go-round hosting Saturday Nigh Live with a skit that wasn’t just star-studded, but star-bedazzled.
Paul Simon, Alec Baldwin, Steve Martin, Chevy Chase, Dan Ackroyd, Tom Hanks, and other SNL alumni all welcomed the former *NSYNC member into the “5-Timers Club,” which apparently involves cast member-themed cocktails and death matches between Bill Hader and Bobby Moynihan, among other benefits.
But JT’s real moment of license happened later in the show. Kanye West, in a recent rant about the sorry state of popular music, trashed Justin in front of a crowd at the Hammersmith Apollo by saying, "I got love for Hov, but I ain't f-cking with that 'Suit & Tie.'”
In his SNL performance with Jay-Z last night, Justin defended the title track of his album and changed some lyrics from "Aww, sh-t so sick, got a hit and picked up a habit" to "my hit's so sick, got rappers acting dramatic."
JT’s comeback certainly came on a more public stage than Kanye’s, but the vast majority of viewers probably didn’t catch it. Did you?
