Kim Kardashian’s Risky Pregnancy Behavior: How Bad Is It?

As far as we can tell, Kim Kardashian’s pregnancy hasn’t slowed her down at all so far. She’s kept up with her impressive travel schedule and intense exercise regimen, but after her recent miscarriage scare, Kim has apparently been following her doctor’s order to take it easy.

After the incident, Kim was accused of “not respecting her pregnancy.” Sure, she lives a very different lifestyle than most expectant mothers, but how risky has her behavior really been?

Let’s start with Kim’s exercise habits, which were apparently a matter of concern for her doctors. Her trainer, Tracy Anderson, wants her to hit the gym up to six times a week. That may sound crazy, but it’s apparently a good thing, assuming that Kim doesn’t overdo it.

“The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommends that pregnant women exercise at a moderate level for 30 minutes or more per day on most, if not all, days of the week throughout pregnancy, including second trimester,” pre- and postnatal fitness expert Leah Keller told Hollywood Life. The key, says Keller, is moderation. As long as Kim makes sure to stay hydrated and avoids super intense workouts, she’s just fine.

Kim’s travels plans are also a matter of concern, especially considering that her recent health scare came right on the heels of a transatlantic flight. But flying is allowed until the last month of pregnancy — Kim just need to makes sure to stretch her legs occasionally to prevent blood clots.

When a pregnant woman is sitting in a chair, “Her uterus sits on the vena cava and the aorta,” said Dr. Tara Solomon, Medical Director of The Women’s Wellness Center of South Florida. “If you compress these two the blood cannot flow back as well. This can lead to blood clots in her legs.”

So far, so good! Kim may be a jet-setter, but she’s not doing anything out of line.

However, we’re still glad she’s taking some well-advised rest, because that worrisome stress level probably isn’t going anywhere. At least, not until her divorce trial starts on May 6, and hopefully ends soon after!
