Mad Men Season 6 Poster Revealed: What’s the Story? (PHOTO)
On March 11, AMC unveiled the official poster for Mad Men Season 6.
Instead of a glossy ad or photo, it almost looks like an art director's illustration — and it shows Don Draper both coming and going next to himself. What could that mean?
In an interview with the New York Times, Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner said he was inspired by a childhood memory of lush, painterly illustrations of TWA flight menus and wanted to find the guy who did them. So he got 75-year-old illustrator Brian Sanders to create this new image.
According to the NY Times, "The ad, depicting Don Draper, the show’s lead character, in a vertiginous pose on a New York City street corner that seems to be collapsing on him like the decade he is living in, looks as if it has time-traveled from the pages of an old copy of Reader’s Digest."
In January 2012, the Mad Men Season 5 poster was revealed and got some people upset because it reminded them of 9/11. This poster is probably going to be less controversial, but it doesn’t feel as slick and clean as the usual SCDP designs. What do you think of it?
Mad Men Season 6 will have a special two-hour premiere on Sunday, April 7 on AMC.
