Once Upon A Time Season 2 Spoiler: Can Rumple Still See the Future? Adam Horowitz Says…
In Season 2, Episode 14: “Manhattan,” we saw Rumplestiltskin (Robert Carlyle) take from a seer her ability to see the future. With it, he learned that Henry would be “his undoing.” Even with the fuzziness of foresight, the ability to tell the future is a handy skill to have, so why hasn’t Rumple used it since he came to Storybrooke? Once Upon A Timeco-creator Adam Horowitz clarified via Twitter that Rumple no longer has the ability to see the future, explaining why Rumple has been surprised by some of the series’ developments: “[Rumple] lost that ability in our world. And when he DOES see it, as he said, it's not clear.”
Sounds like the rules about when Rumple can and cannot see the future are as fuzzy as what he sees. Magic was not supposed to be a part of Storybrooke, but it has been slowly leaking in. After the spell was broken, Rumple was able to use magic again, but lost the ability again once he crossed the town border. Could his ability to see the future come and go in the same way?
Alternatively, if Rumple returns to the Enchanted Forest or goes to another realm that has magic (Neverland, for instance), would he be able to see the future again whilst there? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
