The X Factor

X Factor Musical Headed to London — With a Talking Dog?

It seems like the curtain is constantly going up on new musicals based on movies — but have you ever heard of one based on a reality-competition TV show?

Yes, there are more developments on the X Factor musical.

Syco Entertainment — the production company run by X Factor and American Idol magnate Simon Cowell — is behind a new musical spoof entitled X Factor — It’s Time to Face the Musical!, which is set to hit the UK’s version of Broadway, the West End, in the spring of 2014.

According to a press release, the musical “goes behind the microphone and under the judges' desk to reveal the (not necessarily accurate) story of heartache and laughter that keeps millions tuning into the TV talent show every week.”

The plot will follow Cherice, a young woman who has never seen the show (since her grandfather’s iron lung apparatus interferes with a TV song), but chances upon the audition line for the show — accompanied by her talking dog, no less — coming face-to-face with familiar judges and Max “a handsome, ukulele-playing plumber and part-time warrior.”

Talking dogs? Plumbers? Ukuleles? We’re in!
