Michael Jackson’s Family Requests $40 Billion in Wrongful Death Case
Wow, few can imagine money in such quantity, but I guess if your pa, or son, had built a real-life “Neverland” in his backyard (property that is worth about $20 million), then $40 billion may be a number you can imagine. We’re talking about Michael Jackson, of course.
Reportedly TMZ has obtained legal docs that reveal that Jackson’s mother, Katherine, along with his three children, Prince, Paris, and Blanket, are requesting in excess of $40 billion from AEG Live for the death of the singer.
The Jackson family heirs have been pursuing a wrongful death suit against AEG Live, the entertainment company who promoted Jackson’s final concert. The family is blaming AEG for the hiring of Dr. Conrad Murray, the personal physician who was found guilty of the involuntary manslaughter of Jackson.
Reportedly, Jackson’s children are demanding $10 billion for all the future earnings they claim their father would have earned had he lived. They want an additional $50 million for various other damages. TMZ has not specified how the rest of the funds would be divvied up.
AEG Live isn’t about to write a check for $40 billion. The company reportedly maintains that the demand is preposterous, and that Jackson wouldn’t have earned such a grand amount in his lifetime.
Clearly, no matter what, no amount of money can bring back Michael, which is what everyone really wants. We can only stay hopeful that those deserving will get what they need to heal, and that Michael rests in peace.
