In the scene, Regina (Lana Parrilla) is enjoying some apple pancakes at Granny’s Diner when the adorable hipster sheriff comes to chat. “That uniform fits you nicely, Sheriff,” Regina tells Graham. “It’s so...well-fitted.” Truer words have never been spoken, Regina.
Their flirting is interrupted by a young boy and his father, the guest stars we heard about and were puzzled by way back in January. Regina is equally confused by their appearance as she knows that outsiders are not supposed to be able to enter the enchanted Storybrooke. Ben (John Pyper-Ferguson) and his son, Owen (Benjamin Stockham), are looking for a hotel to stay the night.
“Who the hell are those people?” a freaked out Regina asks Sheriff Graham, who seems less concerned by their appearance. “I don’t like surprises, Sheriff,” Regina continues. “I find them threatening. Do you know what happens when I feel threatened?”
Better watch out, newcomers! Regina is on the prowl and, if her state-of-mind in present-day Storybrooke reflects her state-of-mind in flashback Storybrooke, she is in a killing mood.
But who are Ben and Owen? The casting call described Owen as a "precocious, strong-willed kid who isn't afraid to speak his mind,” but whose “free-spirited, lively personality" hides that "he's secretly dealing with the tragic death of his mother."
So, a widower and his grieving son. How will they tie into Storybrooke mythology? Let us know your theories in the comments below.
