Mad Men Season 6 Spoilers: Don Draper’s Journey and “A New Dynamic”
Mad Men Season 6 premieres Sunday, April 7 at 9 p.m. on AMC.
No one on this show ever gives anything away, so when the cast and showrunner Matthew Weiner sit down and actually talk about the upcoming season, it's exciting on its own.
In a new AMC video (watch it below), Matt said people will enjoy Season 6 because it's "a real journey into learning about Don and it's very much a reflection of the period that we chose." Not that he's giving away the exact timeline. We left off in the spring of 1967, and now we're even deeper into a time of social upheaval.
Jon Hamm (Don Draper) said there's a lot of story still to be told in this series. We'll see "our favorite characters doing a lot of different things." Jessica Pare (Megan Draper) said, "It's not what you think is coming. It's not coming in the way that you thought it was coming. It's probably not coming at all! Unless you were expecting more great costumes and more big hair." Rich Sommer (Harry Crane) added, "For my money, it's certainly one of the more exciting seasons. I mean, there's a lot of stuff happening that never would've happened on the show three or four years ago."
Matt wants viewers to get insight into Don Draper, a new dynamic and "people striving to grow up." Grow up! Does that mean Don will not return to his cheating ways? Will Pete Campbell stop being such a whiny baby? Will someone fail to punch him in the face this season? Honestly, we can't imagine going a whole season without at least one good Pete punch. Season 5 spoiled us that way.
