Pregnant Shiri Appleby Talks Snooki, Working Motherhood — Exclusive

When ready-to-pop pregnant actress Shiri Appleby talked to Wetpaint Moms on March 12, she only had eight days until her due date, and as she counts down to welcoming her son or daughter into the world this week, she knows one thing for sure: She’s not taking a break.

Though she is excited to spend time with her bundle of joy, the soon-to-be new celebrity mom plans to enjoy early motherhood while working and reading lines. Read on for Shiri’s post-pregnancy plans, including an imagined playdate with Jersey Shore guidette (and avid Roswell fan) Snooki.

Wetpaint: I’m sure you’re resting up at home — you’re due in like two weeks, right?
Shiri Appleby: I have eight days!

It must be a little crazy to have all of this buzz about your Girls role when you’re trying to relax and enjoy the final week of your pregnancy...
It’s kind of fun, because everyone’s getting in touch! It’s kind of fun just to check in and say hi to everybody.

Did you film this when you were pregnant? I know production was last summer.
Yeah, I was very newly pregnant.

They’re already gearing up fo Girls Season 3. If your character, Natalia, does return, would that be the only role you’d tackle, or would you want to do other things, too? Or would you want to take a break and spend time with your baby?

I would definitely like to go back to work. [Laughs] The great thing about our job as actors is that you have beautiful trailers and lots of down time, and you can always bring a baby to work. And I just think it’s a really great example to show a kid, of a woman — of a mother — working.

This is random, but did you know that Snooki from Jersey Shore is obsessed with Roswell and loves you?
Yeah, we’ve tweeted a few times! She’s tweeted and I’ve tweeted back.

Maybe you can get together with your baby and Snooki’s baby, Lorenzo, and they can be friends!
I mean, that might be like the Instagram of the week. [Laughs]

Do you think you could give her any advice about... or, well...
I think Snooki would have to give me words of wisdom!

Have any friends — especially fellow actors — helped you figure out how you’re going to raise your child in the spotlight?
I think the one thing we talked about with any mother who has a career and is trying to raise a child it’s like, how do you balance it? How do you make yourself not feel guilty when you’re at work or when you’re at home with the baby that you’re not at work? And I think like with any parent, you just want to protect your child and try to make the best decisions.
