Dancing With the Stars 2013: Andy Dick Says He’s Not a “Dark Horse”

Nobody puts Andy Dick in a corner.

Despite a few premature meltdowns — he nearly quit in the first week! — the Dancing With the Stars 2013 hopeful is in extremely good spirits after he and pro partner Sharna Burgess impressed the judges with their “oddly charming” foxtrot on Monday night’s Season 16 premiere.

“People called us the dark horse [before the premiere], but after last night, we are not the dark horse — we are a opalescent, winged horse — a Pegasus!” he exclaimed.

However, that’s not to say Andy wasn’t terrified during the first live show of the season. “It was a nightmare!” Andy told Anderson Cooper on the March 19 episode of Anderson Live. “I’ve never danced in front of anybody.”

His partner Sharna — a new pro this season — added that behind the scenes, the energy was “frantic.” She dished, “There was a lot of nerves and a lot of adrenaline from everyone in the cast.”

Despite the nervous energy, Andy and Sharna looked like they were having a blast on the DWTS dance floor. And he already has one celebrity fan!

“I voted for you!” former Jersey Shore star Snooki (and today’s Anderson Live co-host) told Andy. "I think you're going to win."

Still, despite the praise, Andy faces tough competition from teens Zendaya Coleman and Aly Raisman.

He questioned, “Why couldn’t I be on the season when Nancy Grace was on?”
