Before the episode airs, we want to take an in-depth look at some of ourmain theories about who could be behind the red. Here, we present the case for why Alison (Sasha Pieterse) herself could be the culprit.
Warning: The article contains spoilers about the Pretty Little Liars book series.
Could she be alive? First things first: Ali can only be Big "A" if she's actually alive. It it possible? There aresome clues that she might not be a gonner, and we're definitely starting to think she could have faked her own death. (Is a twin involved, as in the books? That's also possible). Sure, it's an out-there idea, but this is Pretty Little Liars. We're not sure any twist is too crazy.
The look is right. Ali has the right look. While the girl in red could obviously be wearing a wig, if she is a blonde, Ali's one of the few characters who fits the bill. Plus, Ali, as Vivian Darkbloom, is the first character we ever saw sporting a red coat.
Her personality. Let's be honest: Dead or alive, "A" team leader or victim, Ali is one scary gal. While she was alive she managed to dominate the Liars, all of Rosewood High, and plenty of adults, too, and even in "death" her shadow haunts them all. But despite her cruelty, people were generally fascinated with and drawn to her. She's one of the few characters who clearly has what it takes to head the "A" team — she has both the sociopathic tendencies and the charm needed to keep people in line.
She knows, like, every secret. Seriously. Ali should have become a spy or something, because the girl had (has?) an uncanny ability to dig up dirt on anyone. Not only did she know all of the Liars' deepest, darkest secrets, but we have no trouble believing that she had more than enough material to potentially blackmail people into joining the "A" team if they weren't ready to volunteer.
She was stalked by an "A". The fact that Ali herself was apparently stalked by an "A" could be seen as a point against this theory, but we're not convinced. Let's say one person calling themselves "A" started the cycle by messing with Ali. Based on what we've seen over the past seasons, it would seem Ali then tried to track that person down. Maybe she found them, disposed of or began controlling them (with blackmail?), and then took their place. We could definitely see Ali doing that, becoming far scarier than the first "A" ever was.
What do you think: Could Alison be the Big "A", or do you think she's really and truly dead?
