Dancing With the Stars 2013: Is Gleb Savchenko the New Maksim Chmerkovskiy?
Out with the old, in with the new? That seems to be Dancing With the Stars' philosophy in 2013, as they've brought in a whopping three new dance pros at once for Season 16.
The pro cast is in constant flux, so it's not like the three newbies — Gleb Savenko, Lindsay Arnold, and Sharna Burgess — can be seen as direct replacements for the more familiar pros who aren't appearing this year. That said, it's hard to miss the similarities between Gleb and this season's most notable male absentee, bad boy of the ballroom Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
Like Maks, Gleb is a total hottie. Like Maks, the show clearly knows Gleb is a total hottie, and they're playing it up. His first intro video with Lisa Vanderpump included shirtlessness, sexy moves, and funny banter about how dancing with Gleb feels almost like an affair (but not really!) for Lisa.
Speaking of Lisa, she's a lot like one of Mak's most notable partners, Kirstie Alley, who he danced with twice (on Season 12 and All-Stars). Both women are a bit older and perhaps not the best technical dancers, but full of sass and humor.
On the other hand, Gleb has yet to show Mak's defiant attitude, and it's too early to really get a sense of what his choreography is like.
Do you think Gleb could be the new Maks, or is there no way someone can fill those shoes?
