Game of Thrones Season 3: [SPOILERS] to Make Appearance!
The night may be dark and full of terrors, but our own Lord of Light, George R.R. Martin, will be in the spotlight on Game of Thrones Season 3.
The author of the book series that turned into HBO's hit show will make an appearance during the new season, which premieres March 31. “You will see him," co-showrunner David Benioff told Deadline during the “Evening With Game of Thrones” held Tuesday in Hollywood. They weren't clear about his role or cameo, so we'll just have to keep an eye out for him.
Double R shared some post-Season 3 spoilers during the event, even as it was made clear that HBO had yet to order a Season 4. Still, Season 3 is going to be based on roughly the first half of A Storm of Swords, and producers said Season 4 would delve deeper into the book.
As to who will rule the Seven Kingdoms when this is all over, after (at least) two more books are written, and however many seasons of the TV show: "There’ll be a few people on the throne before it’s over," the author teased. He’s already told the HBO showrunners who basically “wins” the Iron Throne in the end. Our money’s on The Mother of Dragons!
However, this sounds ominous, unless it refers to characters who have already departed: "as bloodthirsty as I am in killing characters," Martin said, "David and Dan are killing some characters who are still alive in the books! Their body count is higher than mine. When they say no one is safe in the series, that's literally true. There are characters in book five and who are gonna be in book six who are dead on the TV show." Seven hells!
Double R is also reportedly considering a kind of Game of Thrones prequel. Could the gods be that good? We'll see...
