Kim Zolciak Releases Statement Regarding “Tardy For the Party” Lawsuit
Last week we were shocked to learn that The Real Housewives of Atlanta’s Kandi Burruss was suing Kim Zolciak over unpaid royalties for Kim’s song “Tardy For the Party” because the song was actually recorded over three years ago.
Yes, the track has been a sore point for Kandi and Kim (because they failed to agree on how muchKandi was getting paid), but are we really expected to believe that it was just a coincidence that Kandi sued her former pal a day before the Season 5 Reunion was scheduled to film? We think not.
Clearly we aren’t the only ones who thought something was awry, because Kim just released an official statement about the pending lawsuit, where she says it’s “without merit and suspicious in its timing.”
“We also find the handling of the lawsuit by another cast member on the show, and the timing of Kandi's attempt to launch her own spinoff reality show, raises serious questions about the true motives behind the filing this lawsuit for alleged record royalties due from a song that was released over three and a half years ago,” the statement continues.
And if you didn’t get the hint already, Kim and her camp clearly feel that the lawsuit is nothing more than a sad publicity stunt. The statement later notes, “It is clear to us the lawsuit was brought solely for the purpose of publicity because the facts are not in Kandi's favor.”
The entire statement is pretty lengthy, but basically Kim thinks Kandi is suing her to generate buzz about her spin-off, The Kandi Factory, and claims that she has actually overpaid Kandi for the work she did on the song.
