Octomom Nadya Suleman Accused of Possible Welfare Fraud
Nadya Suleman, the mother of 14 including the famous octuplets who launched their mother into the celebrity spotlight after their birth in early 2009, is now under investigation for welfare fraud.
TMZ claims thatNadya was reported by an anonymous source to the L.A. County Dept. of Welfare Fraud Prevention and Investigation, who alleges that the 37-year-old has been collecting food stamps among other forms of welfare, despite her high income.
Nadya reportedly raked in upwards of $200,000 last year, but California law would only allow her to claim government assistance if she earned below $119,000, considering her large family. Her income was provided by her popular porn video Octomom Home Alone, stripping gigs, and various publicity stunts including date-night dinners worth $5,000 up front.
If Nadya is found guilty of fraud, she could face up to three years in prison.
