Are you ready to find out who made the Top 8 and who got voted off American Idol 2013 this week? We have the American Idol results for the elimination on Thursday night coming to you live right now.
Will our prediction about who was eliminated on American Idol Season 12 by the voters this week come true? Or were we totally off base? Find out in our live American Idol recap below and watch all the action with us!
In a elimination poll posted after the Top 9 performance show last night, our readers here at Wetpaint told us they thought Lazaro Arbos should be the one who is sent home this evening. Coming in second place for most reader votes to be eliminated was Paul Jolley, who gave yet another mediocre performance on American Idol last night.
The most-liked contestant of the evening in our favorites poll was Angie Miller with her Beatles’ “Yesterday” peformance. Janelle Arthur’s “I Will” came in second, followed by “With a Little Help From My Friends” by Kree Harrison. We’re pretty sure none of these ladies have anything to worry about on the American Idol elimination results show tonight.
Who did have reason to worry tonight? Well, it will be a long night before we learn the final results, but let’s get this show started and find out!

We start off the show tonight, as usual, with a recap of the performances from last night and Jimmy Iovine's commentary on each of the contestants. He calls poor Lazaro the "worst performance of the night," which is true, but still sad. Nicki Minaj said Jimmy made him too nervous. Jimmy protests that it's part of the show and he should get over it. He also denies Lazaro's claim that he only got the song the night before and had to dump his original choice. Jimmy says he worked on the song with Lazaro five days before the show and everyone gets the same amount of time to practice.
Aubrey Cleland is the first contestant to find out her fate tonight. Host Ryan Seacrest pulls her to the front of the stage and we get to watch a somewhat amusing video of her freaking out over too much floor smoke while she is trying to sing. After all that, Ryan says she’ll have to wait to find out her voting results later.
Oh goody. After the break, it’s time for a Brady Bunch group number of “Got to Get You Into My Life” with the guys from the Top 9 finalists.
Now Ryan brings up Paul Jolley to tell him some small town in Tennessee has declared a day named after him. That’s the good news. The bad news is that Paul is in the bottom three in the voting results.
Before we get to more results, former American Idol contestant Casey Abrams takes the stage to perform “I Saw Her Standing There” by the Beatles. (Check out music from his debut album here.)
Now it’s the girls turn for their Brady Bunch group moment on the show tonight with “Here, There, and Everywhere.” Thankfully, this one is at least not one of those cheesy, upbeat, run around the stage grinning like crazy people songs.
Finally, it looks like we are going to get some more results. Ryan asks Devin Velez how he thinks he can connect to the audience better, since the judges mentioned he had an issue with that. Devin says he was actually proud of his performance last night. Ryan announces Devin is in the bottom three tonight.
Next up is Lazaro Arbos, who was by far the worst singer last night, but we don’t think he’ll be going home tonight. Lazaro says he learned from his performance last night he needs to do songs that he loves and not change his songs based on what other people might say. Nicki Minaj says that’s exactly what he needs to do to get his mojo back. Ryan says America did not agree with the judges last night and he is safe for the night.
Now it’s time to welcome Season 11 runner-up Jessica Sanchez back to the show to perform her new single “Tonight” featuring Ne-Yo off her upcoming album Me, You & the Music.
That leaves Amber Holcomb, Paul Jolley and Devin Velez as the bottom three.
The person with the lowest number of votes, who will sing for the save, is... as we predicted it would be... Paul Jolley. The judges are not going to use their save on him, so enjoy his performance now, because we probably won’t be seeing much of him again... ever.
Who made the American Idol 2013 Top 8: Angie Miller, Amber Holcomb, Burnell Taylor, Candice Glover, Lazaro Arbos, Janelle Arthur, Kree Harrison, Devin Velez
Who went home on American Idol 2013 tonight: Paul Jolley
