Once Upon a Time

Once Upon a Time Star David Anders Heads to Necessary Roughness

On Once Upon a Time, it isn’t unusual for characters to disappear for episodes at a time, but Dr. Whale has been noticeably absent for months now, and unfortunately, it looks like he might be gone for even longer.

Though portrayer David Anders tweeted that he’ll be in Season 2, Episode 21: “Second Star to the Right” — aka the first part of the two-part finale — he has a bigger role at hand than Dr. Frankenstein. According to The Hollywood Reporter, David is headed to USA’s Necessary Roughness, where he'll co-star with John Stamos in a major arc on the show’s third season.

On the show, which returns this summer, David will play “Troy Cutler, the second-in-command to Stamos' Connor McClane at V3, the world's top sports and talent agency. Having sacrificed his personal life for his career, Troy is most satisfied when getting his hands dirty for the company — something that doesn't sit well with Callie Thorne's Dani.”

Getting his hands dirty and pushing someone’s buttons? Sounds very familiar — looks like David’s time on OUAT will be a big help, although hopefully he won’t be bringing anyone back from the dead.

Catch the next episode of Once Upon a Time on Sunday, March 24 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
