Pretty Little Liars Season 4 Spoilers: Are Aria and Ezra Headed for More Heartbreak?

One of the most shocking takeaways from the Pretty Little Liars Season 3 finale (Season 3, Episode 24: "A dAngerous gAme") has nothing to do with murder or mayhem. It's the fact that Aria (Lucy Hale) and Ezra (Ian Harding) appear to be done for real this time.

But appearances can be deceiving, especially when it comes to Ezria ending. So will Rosewood's most tumultuous couple find themselves in each other's arms again on Season 4? Showrunner Marlene King and writer Bryan Holdman tweeted in response to fan worry about the couple, and their comments are ... confusing, at best.

When a fan asked Marlene to say something, anything, even one word about the couple in Season 4, Marlene replied, "I can't find just one word to describe Ezria in Season 4."

Of course, the very fact that Marlene can't find one word for it implies there is an "Ezria" to describe in Season 4, which means whether or not they get back together, Aria and Ezra must still be important to each other. No surprise there.

Meanwhile, writer Bryan Holdman tweeted a lot about Ezra recently.

According to Bryan, Aria and Ezra haven't had a scene alone together in Season 4 yet (and the writers are several episodes in, though he could just be talking about the premiere, which is filming). However, Bryan wanted clarification on what one fan meant by "alone," which implies they do have scenes together. Perhaps there are even scenes where they only talk to each other, just not ones where they are totally isolated.

Meanwhile, when one fan asked if Ezria will get better in Season 4, because Season 3 has been heartbreaking, Bryan responded, "You have no idea..." Maybe we're being pessimistic, but it sounds to us like he means fans have "no idea" how heartbreaking things can get...

That said, Bryan thinks it'll be worth it for Ezria fans to stick it out through Season 4. But he also adds, "but don't say I didn't warn you..."

How does this all connect to PLL executive producer Oliver Goldstick saying Aria has got to "move on" next season? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
