American Idol’s Nicki Minaj: Jimmy Iovine Should “Zip His Lips”

American Idol 2013 judge Nicki Minaj is not on Team Jimmy Iovine.

The American Idol mentor had harsh words for the judges this week, which Nicki did not appreciate, according to TV Guide.

"I wish he would just zip his lips and let America make their own decisions," Nicki says.

Jimmy had criticized the judges for being too confusing and too polite in their feedback.

Nicki also thinks Lazaro Arbos has stuck around longer than he should have because people are rejecting the comments Jimmy makes about him.

"Because he comes down very hard on Lazaro [Arbos], America keeps voting for him," Nicki explains. "You don't want to force a decision down [viewers'] throats because they're going to feel compelled to rebel."

Randy Jackson has a similar take on Jimmy's comments, as he doesn't think that the Interscope chairman should have the final word all the time.

"They've got to open up our mics so we can come back at him," Randy says. "And we should judge Jimmy!"

However, Keith Urban seems to be on the other side of the fence, as he appreciates what Jimmy has to say.

"I think he's pretty accurate," Keith says. "But I agree with Jimmy when he agrees with me, otherwise I don't agree!" Makes sense to us.

But what do you think? Do you think Jimmy has too much influence — and do you think Lazaro has lasted longer than he should because of him?

Meanwhile, American Idol's ratings continue to slip this season, and the show faces a new challenge when The Voice debuts this Wednesday.

"Those guys are all dear friends — Adam [Levine], Blake [Shelton] and Usher I know really well," Randy says.

"They're great, talented people and musicians, so I wish them well," he adds.

Nice job on the diplomatic answer, Randy.
