Carol and Daryl on The Walking Dead Season 3: A Couple or Just Friends? (POLL)
The Carol (Melissa McBride) of The Walking Dead Season 3 is a lot stronger than the woman everyone took care of on Seasons 1 and 2. She and Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) flirted a bit on the Season 3 premiere — he massaged her shoulders and she playfully suggested they “screw around.” Then he mourned her when he thought she had died in the walker attack that claimed T-Dog. Then he found her and carried her to safety like a superhero. Then she thought she lost him when he ran off with his brother, Merle. Then, on Episode 15, Merle was shot by The Governor, turned into a walker, and Daryl himself had to put him down.
We're approaching the March 31 season finale, and there's really no better time for Daryl to fall into Carol's arms for comfort. It's the end of the world. If Glenn and Maggie can get engaged, Carol and Daryl can take it to the next level.
Entertainment Weekly asked Norman Reedus if a romance could be coming between Daryl and Carol. "If it does, lucky me. She’s awesome,” Norman said of Melissa McBride. “She’s my favorite actress on the show. I mean, I like them all, but I’ve gotten to work a lot with her and know her vibe. If it happens, it happens. I want it to be awkward when it happens. I want it to be really awkward. I want her to make the first move. ... I don’t think he’s figured out women. What does a relationship look like and how does that work? He never really grew up with a woman in the house, so it’s sort of like foreign creatures to him. ... So if it happens [with Carol], great. If it doesn’t, great. I like the fact that we’re two damaged people and we sort of gravitate to each other. I like that. If it happens, right on.”
EW also asked comic book writer/executive producer Robert Kirkman about a potential "Caryl" romance. "All I can say is that those two characters are extremely close and I would imagine that the more time they spend together that they would only get closer and closer," Kirkman said. "They definitely have a unique bond that is formed over their time together and whether or not that evolves into an intimate relationship remains to be seen, but they do certainly like each other."
Caryl shippers have been looking at these two as a couple, hoping they hook up and get romantic, etc. Other fans put on their HELL TO THE NO faces at the mere idea. It’s not like The Walking Dead is a soap opera where everyone needs to be in love, but plenty of couples have headed in that direction anyway. Lori had Rick and Shane. Andrea had Shane and The Governor (unfortunately). Maggie and Glenn have each other.
Daryl has yet to get any action. Would you like to see Daryl and Carol head in that direction or would you rather see their relationship stay platonic? Vote in the poll, if you care to!
