Lazaro Arbos Says “Bad Comments” Get to Him, Hurt His Performance
American Idol 2013 finalist Lazaro Arbos admits his performance during the Top 9 live show was... well... not “the best.” However, he has all kinds of reasons why his vocals were so bad, from having his original song pulled out from under him to “bad comments” on the Internet getting him down.
"I think that Keith [Urban] was right — I have a wide range and I could have done it so much more,” Lazaro Arbos told Hollywood.com about his dismal performance. “But the thing was that wasn't the song that I picked." According to Lazaro, American Idol 2013 producers allegedly told him he had to switch songs at the last minute and he didn’t have enough time to prepare. "I had never heard that song, 'In My Life,' because I am from Cuba and they don't let you. I didn't grow up with it."
Being allegedly forced to change up his song wasn’t the only thing that that contributed to Lazaro’s failure last week, or so the singer says. "I think that when you become known there's a lot of people that talk bad, and I think that we have been letting those bad comments get to us," Lazaro said the day after his American Idol Season 12 Top 9 performance. "That's kind of messing me up with my confidence. I saw a thing last night that totally messed me up. I just walked out there so nervous and upset."
Despite harsh criticism from the judges, and nasty commentary on the Internet about his performances, Lazaro Arbos isn’t even close to giving up. Although he admits to breaking down in tears on stage last week because he “disappointed my followers,” he’s ready to go out there again this week and “just pretend I am on my couch, and I'm going to sing and rage on and get wild!"
