American Idol 2013’s Paul Jolley Sits In With The Tonight Show Band
American Idol 2013 finalist Paul Jolley enjoyed some of the perks of his newfound fame on The Tonight Show with Jay Lenoafter his elimination on Friday. Each week, the departing singers from American Idol Season 12 get the chance to perform with The Tonight Show Band.
Talking to Jay Leno, Paul Jolley said he wasn’t really surprised the American Idol judges did not decide to save him after the voters gave him the boot “because Jimmy [Iovine] already saved me once before.”
Overall, Paul seemed — as usual — pretty ‘jolly’ about the whole experience, despite losing his spot in the American Idol 2013 finalists to a much worse singer. Which was probably way more about Lazaro Arbos’ emotional backstory than those pesky Paul Jolley gay rumors.
Jay Leno asked Paul what his favorite thing was to do on a Friday night in his hometown of Palmersville, TN. His response? Paul said he and his friends will usually go to a drive-in theater in his old hatchback with an air mattress laid in the back... and cue the blush and shrug...
Paul joined The Tonight Show Band on Carrie Underwood’s “Blown Away” and “Walking in Memphis” by Marc Cohn. Personally, we think he sounded better on The Tonight Show than he did on American Idol most of the time!
