Tonight was part one of the RHOBH Season 3 reunion special, and things started off on a shocking note when Andy Cohen announced that Adrienne Maloof would not be showing up for the taping.
Andy addressed viewers directly and said, “Adrienne Maloof has decided not to participate today.” He explained that her feud with Brandi Glanville over spilling the secret that Adrienne used a surrogate for the birth of her sons was behind her absence. Marisa Zanuck and Camille Grammer also were not in attendance, but Adrienne’s status as full-time cast member made her refusal to attend especially glaring.
“Not only is she absent tonight, but she won't be on the show next season,” Andy continued. “Adrienne Maloof's final act as a Housewife... is not showing up tonight.”
The rest of the cast took a moment to let the info sink in before Andy asked for their reactions. Kyle Richards said that she is sad about Adrienne leaving the show, since they’ve become so tight knit over the years. Lisa Vanderpump, on the other hand, said she had little sympathy for Adrienne, and that to expect privacy on a reality show was ridiculous. She also brought up Adrienne’s penchant for selling stories to the tabloids. Brandi chimed in as well, saying she would definitely not miss Adrienne and echoed Lisa’s sentiments.
After that, Andy delved into the root of Adrienne and Brandi’s feud, which started with the dinner at which Brandi told Adrienne to “shut the f**k up” and reached a climax when Brandi spilled the beans on Adrienne’s surrogacy secret and lawyers got involved.
Because Adrienne wasn’t there to defend herself, Andy asked the housewives a question he was going to pose to her: Why did she join a reality show if she had a private family matter she didn’t want revealed?
Brandi, of course, answered immediately that fame was Adrienne’s game, and it was something that all of her money couldn’t just buy.
Her fellow housewives may think Yolanda has the perfect life, but the newest cast member admitted to Andy that she initially didn’t feel welcome by her co-stars, saying no one really attempted to make friends with her. Brandi said she put in the effort, and Kyle also said the same. But Yolanda begged to differ, saying she never felt like Kyle reached out to her. But Kyle insisted that she tried but got standoffish vibes from Yolanda.
Yolanda also revealed something a little-known detail about her marriage to David Foster: The couple, as in love as they are, have a prenup in place.
Then Kim and Yolanda got into an argument about Kim “blowing off” plans to do the master cleanse together, with Kim saying they never made plans but Yolanda maintaining that they had talked about it at Ojai.
Andy then asked Yolanda about how she’s been dealing with her Lyme disease, and she explained that it began to affect the way she interacted with the girls. Case in point: her confrontation with Taylor over how she felt about Yolanda’s husband. Taylor apologized for initially being cold toward Yolanda because of her friendship with David’s ex-wife, Linda Thompson, and Yolanda accepted the apology.
After Kyle and Kim’s emotional intervention with Taylor in Season 3, Episode 15, we had no doubt Andy would be asking the single mom for an explanation of her recent drinking habits. Taylor admitted she leaned on alcohol during the season to cope with stress. Lisa said she was definitely worried about Taylor’s behavior at parties, and Kim said it was difficult to watch Taylor struggle with alcohol considering her own past with addiction.
Andy then brought up the infamous incident where Taylor seemingly lost track of her daughter during a phone conversation with Kyle and Kim. Taylor explained the changeover misunderstanding between her and her nanny, and Kyle and Kim had to defend discussing the ordeal with the other housewives.
Taylor also opened up about her romance with lawyer John Bluher, and Andy pointed out that he’s not quite divorced yet, which Taylor admitted was true. Brandi noted that she was a little bothered by Taylor dating a married man, but Yolanda made the point that divorces can sometimes take years to finalize.
In the Season 3 finale of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Lisa begs Kyle to step in and defend her against Faye Resnick’s verbal attacks at her own vow renewal party. Sadly, Lisa was let down yet again by Kyle’s hesitancy to get in the middle of other people’s problems.
Andy brought up the fact that their friendship has changed a great deal over the course of Season 3, and Lisa accused Kyle of cozying up to Adrienne in order to secure the real estate deal on Adrienne’s home, a point Kyle found to be an attack of her character.
When asked whether she felt replaced by Brandi, Kyle agreed wholeheartedly, saying she felt like no matter how hard she tried it was never enough to please Lisa.
Brandi countered, saying her friendship with Lisa is so strong because she doesn’t gossip behind her friends’ backs. Even though Brandi believes Kyle is jealous of her friendship with Lisa, it hasn’t stopped the two from being civil during Season 3. Kyle acknowledged she and Brandi didn’t have a single fight during Season 3 and that she would not stand for anyone talking poorly about her. But Yolanda quickly stepped in to disagree, calling Kyle two-faced and saying she badmouthed Brandi during their Vegas trip. Surprised by the accusation, Kyle shot back and said Yolanda wasn’t so innocent herself, asking her to repeat what she said about Lisa in Paris. Confused, Yolanda said she did not recall, and Kyle called her a liar.
A yelling match between Kyle, Kim and Yolanda ensued, with the Richards sisters claiming Yolanda said Lisa was “full of s**t” and “phony” about her concern for Kim during the Paris trip, and Yolanda denying the conversation altogether.
Andy finally interrupted to ask Lisa whether she thinks Yolanda would say anything like that, and she replied, “No.” Kyle, of course, looked absolutely crestfallen after Lisa’s answer.
