The Voice 2013: How Did Usher Do as a Season 4 Coach?

Last night (March 25) marked the Season 4 premiere of The Voice and America’s introduction to new coaches Usher and Shakira. These two superstars replaced original coaches Cee Lo Green and Christina Aguilera in the spring 2013 cycle.

And after watching the premiere, we have a feeling that these newbies will fit right in. In fact, Usher already has a clear leg up on the competition after discovering and mentoring superstar Justin Bieber — a fact he reminded us of several times last night.

But it’s not Usher’s successful coaching history that wowed us in the premiere. With an effortless cool, Ush would spin around, leg up, and flash an eye-twinkling smile that made everyone swoon.

Usher’s promises to help contestants “win over the world” might have been a bit overly dramatic, and yet we Beliebed believed every word. Who wouldn’t?!

Taking a more laidback approach (compared to Adam Levine’s “I will light myself on fire for you”), Usher snagged some impressive contestants and maintained his “too-cool-for-school-is-sexy” vibe.

He even had some endearing moments, like when he accidentally called Nashville a “state” and upon realizing his error, broke out a “whoops!” grin.

Obviously we love Usher as a coach, but what did you think of his Voice debut? Tell us below!
