Judge Joe Brown Canceled … Because He Didn’t Want to Cut $20M Salary?
The case is closed for Judge Joe Brown. The 15-year-old syndicated court show has been canceled.
"We would like to thank Joe for 15 great years,” CBS Television Distribution said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, “as well as executive producer John Terenzio and the entire staff for all their hard work and dedication to the show."
According to THR, the show was canceled after contract negotiations broke down. Joe had reportedly been making $20 million a year (!), but CTD was supposedly hoping to cut back his money to keep in line with the declining ratings. Judge Brown has been second in the ratings to Judge Judy for the past 739 weeks.
Do you think cancelling the show was the right move? Will you miss watching Joe in action? Should he have been paid more? She he have accepted less? According to Forbes, Judy Sheindlin makes $45 million a year for Judge Judy. Who knew yelling at people over their bad decisions could be so profitable?!
