Sara Simmons came to Season 4 of The Voice by way of Memphis, Tenn. Her powerful rendition of Joan Osborne’s ballad “One of Us" got her a four-chair turn from the coaches.

Shakira said the powerhouse singer had a “raspy” and “dirty” sound that American radio needs today — of course, with her help. Coach Usher said the singer was “shocking” and that she sang “with much conviction and passion.” When Usher said that he was also from Tennessee, coach Blake Shelton jumped in with a “me too!” and Adam Levine told her he’d be from anywhere she’d want him to be.

In the end, Sarah chose to be on Adam’s team.
