Which Downton Abbey Star Regrets Going Topless For Movie Role?
What would the Dowager Countess say?
Jessica Brown Findlay is known for playing Lady Sybil on Downton Abbey, and she now admits that she regrets appearing topless in a film, according to Radio Times.
The 23-year-old actress made her film debut in the British movie Albatross two years ago, in which she plays a teen who has an affair with an older man. But she wishes she hadn't shown quite so much of herself.
"To be honest, Albatross was naivete and not knowing that I could say no," Jessica says. "I had no idea what was going to happen and thought I was going to be shot from behind."
Since then, she was naked for the film Labyrinth, which she said was a different experience.
"In Labyrinth, it is a very fleeting moment that we shot in one take, but I did find it very odd being naked in front of lots of people," she admits. "I think it's awful that women get so criticized about their bodies."
In fact, she says she didn't stick to a stringent diet when preparing for her revealing scenes.
"If you're going to do a nude scene, be honest and natural," she says. "I was drinking pints and eating burgers."
However, we shouldn't expect to see quite so much of her in the future.
"But actually," she adds about appearing topless, "it's not something I would do again."
Meanwhile, she says she has no regrets with leaving Downton Abbey behind.
"I didn't want to fall into my comfort zone too much," she says, as "acting in Downton was quite restrictive."
