Chris Brown Explains Rihanna Assault: I Was “Arrogant” and “Hotheaded”
Chris Brown is explaining himself.
The R&B star spoke to Ryan Seacrest on March 26 about his infamous assault on Rihanna, with Chris saying he hadn't yet learned to control his temper, according to Us Weekly.
The now-23-year-old Chris was asked whether he blames the incident on his youth.
"I could [blame it] on my age, but that would just be making an excuse," Chris acknowledges. "I think that at age 18, 19, I was capable of writing and producing songs, so I'm also capable of making the right choices."
He admits he "was arrogant and definitely hotheaded" at that age.
"Everybody has a temper, but for me, it was not knowing how to control it when I thought I had the world in my hands," Chris says.
Chris says he understands that some people still haven't forgiven him for the incident.
"People are entitled to their opinions [about me]," he says. "I can't go around blaming [others]."
"So I think now that I'm becoming older and trying to mature in the life under the public eye at all times, I have to focus on doing the right thing and being more of a humble individual," Chris adds.
Meanwhile, Chris says he has done his best to show Rihanna that he's changed.
"I just tried my best to be the best man I could be over the years, and just show her how remorseful and sorry I was for the incident," he says. "She's a wonderful person, and I'm eternally grateful and thankful [for her forgiveness]."
This is actually the most open and humble we've heard Chris be about his past, so it's nice to hear him say this.
Let's just hope his actions continue to reflect that he's changed as well, and not just his words.
