Grey’s Anatomy Season 9 Spoilers: Is April Going to Re-Take Her Boards?
Since Grey’s Anatomy’s April Kepner returned to the hospital formerly known as Seattle Grace-Mercy West, she’s been preoccupied with boy problems and trying to get the ER back, but now that she is finally working in trauma again, we have to wonder — doesn’t she have to get board certified?
To remind everyone, April was fired, ostensibly because there wasn't money to keep her on, after failing her boards last season. She was subsequently re-hired by Owen, and since she returned, no one has even mentioned the boards. While she’s a great doctor and the hospital has a little more wiggle room with money now, it seems like something that can’t be ignored forever. And, not-so-surprisingly, portrayer Sarah Drew agrees — and promises it’s going to come up soon.

“She brings it up again in [an upcoming episode], but she still has not taken them,” Sarah told TVLine. “I don’t know if that’s going to happen before the end of the season, or if it’s not happening until next season.”
Either way, we understand why she had to hold off — things have been kind of crazy at the newly-named Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. Maybe after tonight’s dramatic, explosive episode things will calm down on the medical front, but she does still have the not-really-a-virgin issue to handle with her boyfriend, Matthew, and her residual feelings for Jackson to consider.
“I think she’s just been pretty preoccupied, and hasn’t had a chance to do the studying and prep in the way she needs to,” Sarah concludes. Boy trouble will do that to you!
Do you think April will re-take her boards anytime soon? Should she? Sound off below.
