The Voice 2013: Is Danielle Bradbery Season 4’s RaeLynn?
After three successful seasons of The Voice, it’s hard not to compare new Season 4 contestants to the greats who have come before them. One such comparison happened in the March 25 premiere when country-singing teen Danielle Bradbury took to the stage to sing Taylor Swift’s “Mean.”
Fans immediately saw similarities between Danielle and Season 2 Team Blake contestant RaeLynn. Both ladies are blonde-haired teens who hail from Texas, and their voices sound mature beyond their years.
Their country sound struck a chord with crooner Blake Shelton, and they both immediately picked his team. But we’ve noticed some definite differences between the two ladies.
Wetpaint Entertainment spoke with Danielle the day after her audition aired, asking her about the comparison.
“I kinda can see how everyone is, ‘You remind me of RaeLynn,’” she replied. “But we have really different voices.”
On the opposite end of the spectrum, Danielle’s audition choice of Taylor Swift’s “Mean” was the perfect fit for her powerful sound. Though Blake said that the country music community claims “ownership” of Taylor Swift, Adam Levine was right to point out that Taylor’s more of a pop crossover artist.
While Danielle definitely rocks a southern accent, her twang isn’t her entire appeal. The shy 16-year-old has amazing breath control and manages to effortlessly transition from note to note, adding in gorgeous yet subtle riffs at just the right moments.
She definitely has the ability to crossover into the pop genre, which makes us a tad disappointed that she didn’t, in fact, pick Team Adam. But Danielle is definitely one of the artists to watch this season.
Granted, RaeLynn is one of the bigger breakouts from past seasons, with her single “Boyfriend” already attracting plenty of fans and a highly-anticipated upcoming album on the way. So the comparison definitely shouldn’t be considered an insult to Danielle. But we have a feeling this teen will show America that she’s more than a country-singing blonde teen.
Do you agree? Or is Danielle just the next RaeLynn? Tell us below!
